Upon graduating from Erasmus Hall High School in 1947, Mr. Schekter earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan in 1951 having majored in accounting. During his accounting and general business studies, he determined that his accounting and business knowledge could be of significant use as an attorney. Driven to pursue a career in the field of law, he obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Brooklyn Law School in 1954. For more than 60 years, Mr. Schekter practiced and excelled as an attorney, initially as an employee and then a partner with the firm of Margolin, Feldman & Schekter and ultimately as senior partner with the firm of Schekter, Rishty, Goldstein & Blumenthal P.C.
Though semi-retired, Mr. Schekter has continued to provide his expertise in real property leasing, contractual work and various other aspects of real property and general commercial and corporate law to several real estate partnerships through his private practice as a consultant. Throughout his career, he remained affiliated with the New York State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. In conjunction with his primary responsibilities, Mr. Schekter has also been dedicated to his community, having served as a board member and officer for the La Fontana Condominium Association Inc.
Even though his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Schekter is incredibly proud of being consistently recognized as an AV-Rated Attorney by Martindale-Hubbell. He also fondly recalls mentoring and teaching younger attorneys, and many of his former partners have and continue to refer to him as "the professor." In the coming years, Mr. Schekter intends to continue utilizing his expertise in the real estate industry while enjoying his semi-retirement.
