ASHEVILLE, NC, May 19, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Alyce Marie Knaflich has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. After serving in the U.S. Army for 19.5 years, Ms. Knaflich completed a Bachelor of Science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University In Poultry Biotechnology. While working in the Poultry Industry she became ill and applied for U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs disability benefits. She struggled with her health not able to work for 10 ten years until awarded 100% disability and began to provide for herself.
Initially developing a solid base income through pet-sitting, Ms. Knaflich decided to help other women veterans in similar situations as her. She headed (started) a cook team at a local shelter and began working closely with women veterans. In 2014, she established Aura Home Women Vets, for which she currently excels as the director. With her current organization, she operates homeless programs for women throughout a seven-county region in the state of North Carolina. Moreover, Ms. Knaflich has developed relationships with the state homeless coalition and partnered with local organizations to work toward an end to homelessness.
For Ms. Knaflich's exemplary efforts in her career, she was recognized as the NAC VAVS Female Volunteer of the Year in 2014 and the AMVETS Volunteer of the Year in 2015. She maintains her professional affiliation with the Association of Fundraising Professionals and AMVETS. Attributing her professional success to her persistence, Ms. Knaflich plans to complete the development of recently purchased property to establish more housing for veterans while expanding her program to reach a wider audience in the coming years.
