MIAMI, FL, May 21, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dessy Boneva, MD, FACS has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. In Bulgaria, Dr. Boneva attended a specialized Mathematics school and began her career in Engineering. She subsequently attended a Technical University in Sofia and was selected to study Engineering in Moscow, Russia. Later, she embarked upon a Health mission trip and in helping with translation from Russian to English, she developed a deep interest and passion in helping patients and subsequently medicine. Reflecting on the example of her mother, who was a medical doctor in her own right as well as Ph.D. in Health sciences, Dr. Boneva pursued the field herself.
After receiving a Doctor of Medicine, Dr. Boneva undertook a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Baltimore VA Medical Center, after which she completed internship at the University of Maryland, residency at Dartmouth University, and a fellowship at the University of Maryland/Shock Trauma and Johns Hopkins University. Presently, she holds several positions in the surgical field she practices in. Dr. Boneva currently works at the Kendall Regional Medical Center (KRMC) and holds academic professorship positions at USF (University of South Florida), FIU (Florida International University) and NSU (Nova Southeastern University).
Dr Boneva practices surgery daily and specializes and works in the field of Trauma Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, Emergency Surgery, Acute Care Surgery and General Surgery. She has performed many surgeries over the years and is the most excited when seeing her patients recover from their traumatic injuries and critical conditions.
As an accomplished professional, Dr. Boneva is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Likewise, in 2018, 2020 and 2021, she was recognized as a Top Trauma Surgeon. As a commitment to her field, Dr. Boneva maintains her affiliation with the American Heart Association, the American College of Surgery, the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the Pan-American Trauma Society and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
Throughout the course of her career, Dr. Boneva has attributed her standout success to her much-loved family and her incredible mentors. In the coming years, she plans to continue practicing surgery. Dr. Boneva would also like to continue her dedication in helping patients, continue to save lives and continue to teach surgery and further have an impact locally and internationally.
