Having earned a distinguished reputation as a talented interior designer, Ms. Shirkey has excelled as the president and owner of Production and Design Inc. since 1996. Sought after for her expertise, her design services span from residential kitchen and bath remodels to interior design, lighting, flooring, color consultation and more. Working closely with clients to create a comfortable, yet functional and beautiful space, she is very meticulous and attentive. Apart from running her successful firm, Ms. Shirkey has earned distinction as a film production manager, set stylist and interior designer for DeSciose Productions in Denver since 1991. Mr. Desciose is a renowned photography and motion picture storyteller based in Colorado.
As an extension of her career, Ms. Shirkey provided her expertise as a production manager for several public service announcements, including the 1992 "Going Home: Colorado Christian Home," which received an Emmy Award nomination that same year. Other announcements to her credit included one for the American Red Cross in 2000 and another for the National Stroke Association in 2001. She continues to practice yoga in her free time, her second greatest passion, through which she has taught students since 1983. Ms. Shirkey is also the former president and owner of Sina Care Centers Inc., Holistic Healing and Teaching.
Prior to establishing Production and Design Inc., Ms. Shirkey served as an interior designer at For Men Only Inc. in Denver from 1985 to 1995 and at Possibilities for Design in Denver from 1983 to 1985. She was also a figure skating coach in Denver for over a decade between 1972 and 1984. A prominent member of several industry-related organizations, Ms. Shirkey is presently active with the International Interior Design Association, the National Kitchen and Bath Association and BPW Colorado (Business and Professional Women of Colorado) since 2015, where she is currently serving as 2nd Vice President.
Ms. Shirkey has been deeply involved with the Denver Mile High Rotary as a foundation board member, where she notably completed several projects in Nepal and China, as well as in her local community. She is also the former chairperson of community service and is a former joint secretary for Rotary International Fellowship of Yoga. Likewise, Ms. Shirkey has collaborated with the Front Range Center for Spiritual Growth in Denver on its board of directors and as the president.
Ms. Shirkey studied at the University of Colorado, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Art in design in 1970. She later returned to college to attain an Associate of Applied Science at Arapahoe Community College in 1985. Some of Ms. Shirkey's incredible designs have been featured in such prominent magazines as Colorado Homes and Lifestyles and Colorado Biz. She also received recognition by the Rocky Mountain division of the National Kitchen and Bath Association with a First Place Award for Best Large Bath, First Place Award for Best Powder Room and a Third Place Award for Small Bath.
