Driven to help the nation foster innovation and competitiveness within the business and technology fields, Mr. King began as a project manager with General Motors during the early 1970s after specializing in avionics systems with the U.S. Marine Corps and the Marine Air Group. Subsequently, he completed a Bachelor of Science in engineering, electrical focus, from Purdue University in 1976 and a Master of Business Administration in management from Indiana University in 1987. Upon graduating, he accepted a product manager position with Hewlett Packard Company in Silicon Valley, California before founding Crown Consulting Group as managing principal in 1988.
Ten years after starting Crown Consulting, Mr. King gained valuable expertise as a global account executive with Digital Equipment Corporation in 1998. Drawing upon his considerable knowledge of technology management, business administration and venture development, he excels today as president and chief executive officer of King & Associates, where he has specialized in facilitating technology transfer and commercialization for various industries since 2001, including life sciences, aerospace and defense, and advanced manufacturing. Through his role, he remains committed to driving entrepreneurship and technological innovation.
Throughout his career, Mr. King has achieved much. In addition to developing and implementing business cases through full product lifecycles and managing multimillion-dollar projects, he graduated from the United Way Board Leadership Development Program, serving on numerous boards, led numerous cross-functional teams through product lifecycles at Fortune 500 companies and founded technology venture development businesses.
Mr. King remains abreast of changes in the field via his affiliation with various economic development organizations. For his professional and military excellence, he has received board recognition, the Air Medal for combat action as a helicopter door gunner in Vietnam, the Good Conduct Medal, the Presidential Award and several Meritorious Achievement Awards. Although his career has been filled with highlights, he is most proud of his work in helping to drive regional and national collaborations between industries, universities and government that have contributed significantly to economic development initiatives and the establishment of technology innovation districts.
