Dr. Patricia Harris, Pioneer in Computer Science

Patricia Harris is a dedicated professional in computer science.

GARLAND, TX, May 31, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Patricia (Tricia) Harris has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With the initial desire to pursue a career in law, Ms. Harris was drawn to business law in high school. However, she was encouraged by her favorite teacher to consider a career in computers instead, because of her skills in math and science, and that turned out to be the best advice ever. Dr. Harris subsequently received an Associate of Arts in Computer Science from Kilgore College and began working at Shore Oil Company to help upgrade them from a manual accounting system to an in-house computer system, and that gave her the best foundation possible. She got married and moved to Iceland and continued her studies at the University in Iceland.

Having accrued many years of inimitable expertise in the field of computer science, network administration and security, and telecom, Dr. Harris has garnered a laudable reputation in numerous companies, including Zimperium, a mobile security company based in Dallas, Director of Training and Documentation at HAWK Network Security, and Senior Instructor and Course Developer at NorTel Networks. She has also worked in numerous systems engineering, training, and documentation capacities for several organizations including DataPoint, Wang Labs, Dell Computer, Kodak Health Imaging, BRIT (a Radiology company), IBM/BP, as well in Contractual Procurement for the ROICC/OICC office at the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) base in Keflavik, Iceland. Outside of the computer and networking industry, Dr. Harris teaches Comparative Religious Studies at Grace Seminary for Women and Trinity International Seminary for Men, where she was awarded a Doctor of Divinity Degree. She received numerous awards and certifications throughout her career in appreciation for a job well done.

She has served on the Board of Directors for Huma Faith, a non-profit providing shelters for victims of domestic violence, people coming out of prostitution and prison, and homelessness. She also worked with J. J. Smith, founder of the Lillian Smith Foundation, providing counseling and support for victims of domestic violence. She was initiated as an Ambassador of Peace with the Universal Peace Foundation, and a member of the Interfaith Council of Dallas at Thanks-Giving Square and the Interfaith Council of South Dallas. As a result of these activities, she was awarded a Living Legend of Dallas Award from Verna's H.E.L.P Foundation, and also awarded an International Medal of Honor for Enlightenment from Grace Seminary and Trinity International Seminary.

In accounting for her professional success, she credits the constant encouragement and support she received from her parents, who always told her that she could always succeed in anything she wanted; and to be sure to set and achieve her goals; work with integrity and always do her best; appreciate those who helped make her success possible; and above all, always give thanks to God. She loves to travel and has been to over 30 countries around the world, loves meeting people, and experiencing new cultures. She had a great time for many years with her Arabian horses, racing her beloved Afghan Hounds, making quilts, creating stained glass and ceramics, and writing articles and books on a variety of topics, and spending time with great friends!
