As a traditional nutritionist, Mr. Silver offers nutritional guidance to clients attempting to lose weight or who may require a specialized diet due to diabetes, hypertension, lactose intolerance, or other varying conditions. He is a Registered Nutritionist and Dietetic Technician through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. He earned an Associate of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition from Hillsborough Community College in 2015, at which time he impressively graduated with a 4.0 grade point average. He is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, Manage First Professionals, The Tampa Dietetics Association and served on the board of The American Lung Association.
Mr. Silver has been a magician since he was very young during which time his father gifted him many books on magic. Daniel's father, who is a Rabbi, coined the name "Houdanny," noting that Houdini's father was also a Rabbi. By the age of twelve, Daniel was performing magic professionally for children's birthday parties.
Daniel credits his healthy lifestyle to his mother, who set an excellent example by being very active and always preparing healthy fare for the family. She also watched The Jack Lalanne Show every day and this had a profound influence on Daniel. By combining the showmanship of Houdini with the passion of Jack Lalanne, Daniel offers a unique presentation that garners accolades from students, teachers, and parents alike.
Throughout his life, along with his daughter, Rachel, Daniel has volunteered for many organizations including the Juvenile Diabetes Association, The American Cancer Society, Big Brother/Big Sister, the National Multiple Sclerosis Association, and Meals on Wheels. He received the Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award from The American Lung Association for his efforts to raise money for asthma research.
Mr. Silver is proud to have been the recipient of the Healthy Living Hero Award from Sprouts Farmers Market in 2020 for his efforts to spread nutritional knowledge to children and the community at large. As a personal shopper at Sprouts and a food service aide at Concordia Village nursing home, Daniel dispenses nutritional advice to those who are looking to improve their diet.
