With a ceaseless desire to learn and teach, Ms. Gilberte has long dedicated herself to the edification of her students. Presently, she has established herself as a mathematics coach with the Los Angeles Unified School District. During an earlier stage of her career, Ms. Gilberte excelled as a teacher for nearly 15 years.
Ms. Gilberte became interested in pursuing a career as a teacher while working as a seventh grade classroom observer. She took note of the daily activities of her students and vowed to make a positive impact on their lives. Shortly thereafter, she obtained an Associates of Arts in Business Administration from Glendale Community College in 2004. Ms. Gilberte subsequently graduated with a Bachelor degree in Mathematics and Master of Arts in Teaching mathematics from Occidental College in 2007.
Ms. Gilberte attributes her success to her drive to succeed and her desire to provide for her three children and two grandchildren. Looking toward the future, she aims to continue improving her curriculum while studying to earn a Doctorate of Educational Leadership (Ed.D.) in Secondary Mathematics Education. Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Gilberte has lived by her personal motto; "Don't give up, it does not matter if your step is one millimeter forward or one mile forward each, you will get there as long as you don't stop."
Ms. Gilberte is also a poet and has published two books of poems titled To Peace I Have Traveled #1 and #2.
