Prior to establishing Brian McCown Construction, Mr. McCown worked as a coal miner in eastern Kentucky for more than a decade, following in the footsteps of his father, Jerry, who was a superintendent, general mine foreman and production supervisor throughout his career. He drew a wealth of inspiration from his father, who instilled within him an incredible motivation to control his destiny through hard work and determination. Though his father sadly passed away in 2002, Mr. McCown has been dedicated to preserving his legacy by carrying the family name into the future.
Outside of his primary career endeavors, Mr. McCown pursued a number of side jobs, including home repairs and metal panel roofing for mobile homes in his region. As his workload began to increase due to word-of-mouth business, he resolved to dedicate his time and resources to metal roofing on a full-time basis, though he initially struggled to find his footing in the wake of the 2008 recession. In the years that followed, Mr. McCown has allied with Taylor Metal Roofing & Siding to utilize the best materials possible for their jobs at an affordable rate as opposed to offering second-rate metals.
Mr. McCown's early experience as an executive in the construction business allowed him to supplement his income through other tasks, including building decks, porch construction and porch roofing. Moreover, he built upon his professional reputation by refashioning barn boards and pallets into rustic furniture, in addition to restoring cars for resale. Eventually, Mr. McCown excelled within his field, priding himself on his exceptional three-man team, his stellar work ethic, their financial preparation and their growing service area, which now includes a 200-mile area throughout Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee.
Initially reroofing older homes that were damaged by harsh weather and contorted by overpopulation, Mr. McCown has seen a boon in his business during the COVID-19 pandemic, as many commercial businesses and schools were in need of structural improvements while closed. In fact, Brian McCown Construction doubled their workload in 2020 from the year prior.
