Ms. Martinez earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science, with a minor in business administration, from the University of Florida in Gainesville in 2012, where she earned placement in the Golden Key International Honor Society. Shortly thereafter, she obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Miami School of Law, Coral Gables, in 2015. While at Miami, she was a junior board member of the Women's Fund of Miami Dade, chaired the service committee of the Society of Bar & Gavel and prospered as a co-coordinator and mentor for Empowered Youth, a local nonprofit. In addition, Ms. Martinez garnered the CALI Excellence for the Future Award from her work at Miami's Tenants' Rights Clinic, which is bestowed to the highest scoring student in participating schools.
Following her admittance to the Florida bar in 2015, Ms. Martinez served as an associate attorney at Albertelli Law in Tampa, where she represented mortgage servicers and national banks in real property litigation and advocated for clients during foreclosure and bankruptcy mediations. After moving to San Diego in 2016, she became a volunteer for the Legal Aid Society of San Diego and clerked at Think Dignity, a nonprofit advocate organization for the homeless. Ms. Martinez subsequently joined both the Lawyers Club and the San Diego County Bar Association as an out of state attorney before her entrance into the California Bar in 2017.
From 2018 to 2019, Ms. Martinez found much success as an associate attorney with the San Diego office of Clerkin, Sinclair and Mahfouz LLP, where she reviewed and analyzed insurance policies for insurance and rental companies and negotiated and drafted settlements agreements in California and Florida matters. At Cotney Construction Law from 2019 to 2020, she drafted and negotiated contracts for California and Florida construction companies and represented general contractors and subcontractors in both states. From May 2020 until the present, Ms. Martinez has thrived as a contract administration specialist at FICO in San Diego and will be embarking in a new role as a consultant attorney for Robert Half International Inc.
In March of 2021, Ms. Martinez founded and serves as the chief executive officer for Consulting Essentials LLC, a San Diego-based consulting firm that provides services in contract analysis, business creation, and diversity and inclusion coaching. She is also currently instituting Legal Essentials LLP, a virtual law firm with fellow attorney Katie M. Shank, which will provide contract drafting, review, revision and negotiation as well as estate planning based on California and Florida law.
In accounting for her standout success, Ms. Martinez credits her ambition and drive to the encouragement of her parents, who immigrated to the United States from South America. Her parents not only instilled a sense of grit in her, but also challenged her to shatter every glass ceiling blocking her way. Aside from her family, the support of her fiancé has been invaluable. Without his continued support, Ms. Martinez would not be the brave person she is today.
