LAUREL, MD, June 10, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Daneen M. Banks, Esq., has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A respected attorney in Washington, D.C., Ms. Banks co-founded her boutique firm, the Law Office of Banks & Lewis PLLC in 2003, specializing in family, administrative, and bankruptcy law, as well as wills and estates. Practicing law since 1998, she formerly served for eight years as legislative counsel on behalf of the Ways and Means Committee for the Maryland Department of Legislative Services. Ms. Banks has further flourished as the assistant deputy mayor of the Office of the Mayor in Baltimore.

Ms. Banks currently serves her local government as the deputy elections administrator for the Prince George's County Board of Elections in Maryland. Operating in this capacity since 2008, she is tasked with administering and making public policy on elections and ensuring that the county is implementing the law. Among other duties, Ms. Banks notably maintains the aforementioned board's $5.6 million budget.

Apart from her current responsibilities, Ms. Banks worked as a legislative assistant on Capitol Hill, during which time she was involved in public policy. A rewarding opportunity, she believes this tenure to have been instrumental to her success as a legislative counsel. Ms. Banks also dedicated her time and expertise to the Environment Law Review as a researcher during law school.

Growing up in a middle class family, Ms. Banks realized in high school that she wanted to study public politics so that she could affect positive change for the many voices that went unheard. Enrolling at the University of Maryland in College Park, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in American government and politics in 1993 before graduating with a law degree at George Washington University in 1998. Soon thereafter, Ms. Banks was admitted to practice law by the Maryland State Bar Association and the D.C. Bar.

Ms. Banks is active on the Maryland Association of Election Officials as The Early Voting & Election Judges committee chairman. Recognized with a Shining Star Award from MAEO, she has also been honored by her church for her volunteer contributions for youth in her community. In her spare time, Ms. Banks remains active with the Court Appointed Special Advocates. Ms. Banks is a member of the Prince George's County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
