Marquis Who's Who Honors Jane Knight Hence with Inclusion in Who's Who in the World

Ms. Hence is an accomplished architectural designer with nearly 30 years of experience.

NEWPORT, RI, June 14, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to honor Jane Knight Hence with inclusion in Who's Who in the World. An accomplished listee, Jane Knight Hence celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Prior to embarking upon her professional journey, Ms. Hence majored in English and minored in History of Art at Skidmore College. In 1960, she graduated from the former Traphagen School of Design in New York City. In 1963, Jane married and in the following five years, she had three children (Kyle, Max and Julie). She began her architecture career as a designer with Michael McKinley & Associates in Stonington, Connecticut, where she was a consulting associate for over eight years. After the above eight years, she worked as an architectural designer and was the owner of JKH Design. Ms. Hence has also worked as a freelance interior designer, often for the owners of the houses she designed.

For a period of time, she had a bed-and-breakfast and a catering business with a good friend — "Pandoracopia" in Essex, Connecticut, while raising her three children.

When her children were teenagers, she went to Yale part-time for four years, as a special student to study architecture and history of art. She did the same in the evenings at RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) to learn drafting.

Ms. Hence also worked as a photographer and interviewer for The Green Light, a newsletter for the Point Association of Newport, Rhode Island, where she now lives (for 20 years). She has designed over 55 buildings in Rhode Island and Connecticut and one in Costa Rica. She is also a painter (oils, watercolors, pastels, acrylics); her paintings are in various collections in the Midwest, the South, New England, New York City and Greece.

Ms. Hence has been an alternate member on Newport's Historic District Commission, on the board of the Nina Lynette Home, the Point Association (Newport), the Westerly Zoning Board, the Westerly School Facilities Committee, and the Westerly School Building Committee. She was also a board member of the Southeast Museum in Brewster, New York when living there.
