Adam D. Smith Celebrated for Dedication to Music Education and Band Direction

Mr. Smith lends decades of experience to his work with Seattle Christian School

SEATAC, WA, June 14, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Adam D. Smith been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After earning a bachelor's degree in education and a bachelor's degree in music from the University of Washington in 1998, Mr. Smith joined Seattle Christian School, where he started as the elementary General Music Teacher and Choir Director. Over the years, he also directed the Elementary and Jazz Bands before obtaining his current role as Director of Bands and Fine Arts Chair for Seattle Christian School, where he has served for the past 23 years. In his dual roles, he teaches Music Appreciation and Worship Arts, directs all bands (Fifth Grade, Sixth Grade, Middle School, High School, Pep Band, and Jazz Band), and is the go-to person for the technology and logistical side of school events.

Throughout his career, Mr. Smith furthered his education, earning 90 additional education credits. He also stays abreast of changes in the field via his professional alignment with the National Association for Music Education. In conjunction with his work in the field, he gives back to his community as an electric guitarist for the Worship Team at Calvary Community Church. For his significant accomplishments, he has received several accolades for his work in the community.

Although his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Smith is most proud of obtaining his role as Director of Bands and transforming the music program into the respected program it is recognized as today. Under his direction, the band program grew from three members to over 40 in just five years. Additionally, he has been slowly but surely revamping and replacing the sound technology in the school as a whole. He also hosted a fundraising concert, in which his Jazz Band helped raise funds for a neighbor band to travel to and perform at former President Barack Obama's Inauguration. Coming off the heels of a large graduating class followed by the Covid-19 pandemic, Mr. Smith and an enthusiastic crop of young musicians look forward to bringing the band department back to the level the community has come to expect and beyond.
