With nearly 60 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Hayes applies her expertise in high-end retail leasing, real estate, construction and accounting while assisting her community each day. She began her career as a legal secretary and assistant office manager at Friedman & Koven from 1960-70, followed by her role as Office Manager for Morse Diesel (1970-72), the contractor who built Sears Tower, then as the Office Manager of Philip Rootberg & Company, an accounting firm, and next as the building manager of the LaSalle Bank Building in Chicago between 1978 and 1980. From 1981 to 1983, she continued her career as the vice president and general manager of the Hayman Company. Ms. Hayes found further success as a partner with the Retail Group in Chicago from 1986 to 1993.

Since 1983, Ms. Hayes has excelled as the president of Jacqueline Hayes & Associates. As a licensed real estate broker at Jacqueline Hayes & Associates, she has completed over 18,000 transactions totaling over 5.5 million square feet valued in excess of $1 billion. Though she initially completed coursework in management at DePaul University in 1977, Ms. Hayes believes that all of her previous jobs and experiences organically led her to pursue a career in real estate.

Throughout her career, Ms. Hayes has maintained her affiliation with various organizations, including the Commercial Real Estate Organization, the National Association of Female Executives, the Chicago Association of Commerce and Industry, the American Biological Institute, the River North Association and the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association (now known as the Magnificent Mile Association), and SOAR. Additionally, she is noted as the founder of Women in Retail Leasing. Since 1988, Ms. Hayes has been associated with Chicago Real Estate Executive Women.

Ms. Hayes has been the recipient of various accolades, such as the Senior Award from the Mayor of Chicago, the Dorris B. and Marshal Holleb Community Service Award, the Betty G. Eaton Spirit Award, the Star Award from Literacy Chicago, the Recognition Award from Chicago Public Schools and the Distinguished Leadership Award from the American Biological Institute. She has been likewise recognized as the Broker of the Year by the Chicago Sun-Times in 1986, among the Top Businesswomen by Crain's Chicago Business between 1990 and 1991, a Woman of Destiny from 1990 to 1992 and one of the 100 Women Who Make A Difference by Today's Chicago Woman in 1995. Additionally, Ms. Hayes is notably credited with being instrumental in contributing to the transformation of the Magnificent Mile of Chicago.

The documentary Ms. Hayes produced "I Have a Name," which is commended as a meaningful approach to working with the homeless and disadvantaged, was honored as the Best Documentary at the Mirabile Dictu International Catholic Film Festival and received the Spotlight Silver Award at the Spotlight Documentary Film Awards in Atlanta.

As depicted in "I Have a Name," she is proud to have founded the Chicago Help Initiative, which continues to provide assistance (both food and programs) to the homeless and/or disadvantaged population in Chicago. She is incredibly proud to have served over 200,000 meals to those in need since the organization's inception in 2001.

Looking toward the future, Ms. Hayes is contemplating writing a memoir.
