His practice ranges from accidents and personal injury to wills, trusts, various business issues, civil trial work, estate administration and family litigation, with extensive involvement in complex civil and probate litigation. He is well versed in zoning and planning, as well as administrative appeals. Working synergistically with the other partners at the firm, he works diligently to provide top-notch legal counsel to ensure the best possible outcome for his clients.
The third generation of Hartford attorneys, he began as an associate at McCook, Kenyon and Bonee in 1974. Thereafter, he served as a partner of the Bonee Law Offices LLP from 1979 to 2007 before establishing his existing practice in West Hartford. Mr. Bonee has authored numerous articles in various legal journals, and is a past editor-at-large for the journal of the Connecticut Bar Association.
Apart from his commitments at the office, Mr. Bonee has enjoyed the opportunity to fulfill several civic roles. Among them, he served on the board of directors for the Trinity Club of Hartford and the World Affairs Council in Hartford. Likewise, he was a member of the Board of Education and later served as the corporation counsel for the Town of West Hartford. He lent his expertise to the Community Planning Advisory Committee and was elected member of the West Hartford Town Council. He served as the president of the 1892 Club of HDF and currently is a member of the CT Landmarks Board of Directors. Since 1990, Mr. Bonee has earned distinction as the host and producer of Inside/Out, a public affairs commentary for the West Hartford Cable Television Station.
A graduate of the Loomis Chaffee School and Trinity College (B.A. History), Mr. Bonee earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence at Suffolk University. He also studied abroad at Makarere University in Kampala, Uganda and the Hague Academy of International Law. Mr. Bonee has been admitted to practice law in Connecticut, the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Among his professional memberships, Mr. Bonee was elected as a Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation and the American Bar Association (ABA). He is also a member of the Connecticut Bar Association where he has served on its Board of Governors, House of Delegates and the standing committee on professionalism and continuing legal education. He remains active on the CBA's probate, litigation and family law sections. Additionally, Mr. Bonee has been prolifically active as a member of the Hartford County Bar Association, for which he is a past president.
In 2000, Mr. Bonee was recognized with an Exemplary Service Award as its ABA House delegate by the Hartford County Bar Association. He was also named as one of Greater Hartford's Top Attorneys in personal injury by Hartford Magazine in 2011.
