While coming of age, Ms. Strickland greatly enjoyed traveling with her father, who rented summer homes in Europe and accompanied her on tours of old castles and historical sites. Committed to broadening the perspectives of his children, her father strove to expose her and her brother to various foreign cultures throughout the course of their childhood. During this time, Ms. Strickland cultivated a love for design.
Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Strickland aspired to bring some of her worldly experience to design in order to create livable and beautiful spaces. She completed two interior design internships at Malouf Furniture and Design and Penage Inc. Likewise, Ms. Strickland received a Bachelor of Science in human environmental sciences and interior design from the University of Alabama.
Ms. Strickland began her career as a kitchen designer and salesperson with European Kitchen of Alabama. Following this period, she maintained involvement as an interior designer for King Cotton Fabrics and Pickwick Antiques. Presently, Ms. Strickland has distinguished herself as the owner of Strickland Interior in Alabama and Louisiana.
In honor of her indelible efforts, Ms. Strickland received the Jack Davis Professional Achievement Award from the University of Alabama HES, and a Certificate of Appreciation from the American Society of Interior Designers Alabama. She was also previously named to the Dean's List at the University of Alabama, as well as to the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. As a testament to her talent in interior design, she qualified as a finalist for Top Three Designers, and was a Bayou Buzz finalist in the design category for Bayou Life Magazine. Furthermore, Ms. Strickland was appointed as the lead designer for a St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's dream home, and raised more than $3 million for the hospital in the past four years.
Ms. Strickland's work has been featured in multiple publications, including Bayou Life Magazine and on industry websites, such as StyleMePretty.com, Wayfair.com and InteriorDesignPro.com. She maintains her affiliation with the American Society of Interior Designers, the University of Alabama Alumni Association, and the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Throughout the course of her career, she has attributed her professional success to her parents and teachers, who have long provided support and encouragement. Looking toward the future, Ms. Strickland hopes to further expand her clientele and become published in a larger magazine.
