Mr. Burbidge initially obtained a Bachelor of Science in finance from the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City in 1979. He continued his education with a Master of Business Administration in finance from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, graduating with honors in 1981. During this time, Mr. Burbidge began his career as a business analyst in its energy products group with TRW Inc. from 1980 to 1981.
Mr. Burbidge further flourished as a corporate banking and credit officer at Crocker National Bank in Los Angeles, a principal and manager at Security Pacific National Bank in Los Angeles, and with the Bank of California in Los Angeles as a vice president and manager of project finance and securities from 1981 to 1992. He was cited in Who's Who Among Rising Young Americans for the American Society and Business. Mr. Burbidge later found success at Wells Fargo Corporation as a managing director from 1992 to 2001, guiding its Corporate Finance group in becoming a regional leader.
Following three years as a financial consultant and advisor Mr. Burbidge began a new phase of his career. From 2004 to 2006, Mr. Burbidge organized and implemented corporate restructuring in three phases as the chief financial officer for the Patriot Group LLC. Additionally, he served as the chief financial and information officer for Kiddie Kandids, a national chain of children's portrait studios based in Sandy, Utah from 2006 to 2010. During this time, he was responsible for all financial, information technology, laboratory, and software development aspects of the company. Mr. Burbidge excelled as the chief financial officer for iTok, Inc., a technology support firm based in Lehi, Utah from 2010 to 2015.
In 2010, Mr. Burbidge established himself as an award-winning author when his manuscripts for "A Piece of Silver" [a family Christmas/Easter fiction book] and "Life on the Narrow Path," [a non-fiction book] were accepted. He has subsequently published works in his "Giants in the Land" and "StarPassage" fictional series for young adult readers, as well as his most recent non-fiction work co-authored with his wife "Living in the Family Blender: 10 Principles of a Successful Blended Family." His accolades as an author have included eight Gold Medals in the Young Adult Fiction and Adult Non-Fiction categories from the Mom's Choice International Award Association between 2011 and 2019 among other distinguished awards.
Mr. Burbidge attributes his success to "surrounding himself with people who really understood the business and could give him good advice." He further credits his wife for helping him combine two families, a circumstance that has been inspirational in his work as an author. In the coming years, Mr. Burbidge looks forward to continued mountain biking and writing both fiction and nonfiction, having retired from his business career in 2015.
