Norman Ray Joy has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Mr. Joy has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the field of secondary education

HUTCHINSON, KS, July 01, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Norman Ray Joy has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Joy has greatly excelled as a U.S. History teacher at Central Christian School, a private K-12 school in Hutchinson. Teaching and supervising approximately 40 students, he has brought life to the history classes by adding an extra dimension to learning by using extra teaching aids, such as mannequins dressed in period clothing, which he acquired during periods of reliving historical events in U.S. History and providing historical performances while entertaining audiences throughout this country. He also bought in special guest speakers to talk about their expertise and share it with the students; a judge, lawyer, and historical performers when it fits into the lessons. The students were also asked to present to their classmates some historical events such as the letters written by Abigail and John Adams, learning by doing a concept used in industrial education. He previously taught power mechanics and welding at Goddard Public Schools in Kansas, and woodworking and mechanical drawing at Crescent Public Schools in Oklahoma. Mr. Joy further flourished as a vocational woodwork and cabinet making teacher for several years with the Kansas Department of Corrections.

Mr. Joy also found success at Allen County Community College in Iola, Kansas, as the director of continuing education. During this time, he also recruited adjunct teachers, helped place students, taught various courses, including architectural drawing, engineering drawing, and woodworking. Furthermore, Mr. Joy notably wrote several new courses within the industrial program that were approved for college credit within the state.

Prior to his efforts in education, Mr. Joy established himself throughout a tenured career in construction. He initially gained expertise as a cabinet designer for a boat manufacturer before becoming a finishing painter and licensed master electrician in residential and commercial construction. In the years that followed, Mr. Joy worked as the owner and operator of his own construction business, building handmade custom cabinets and countertops.

A lay pastor in his free time, Mr. Joy enjoys dedicating his time to senior adults through his church and inspiring other members of his community. In addition to his work at the church, he is active as a living historical performer of General Robert E. Lee and a member of the Alliance of Professional Historical Performers. Moreover, Mr. Joy served in the U.S. Army as a career counselor who assisted in designing individual career plans and as a recruiter responsible for supervising many other recruiters throughout the state of Kansas until his retirement from the military as a sergeant major.

Mr. Joy prepared for his career by earning a Bachelor of Science in education at Central State University in 1969. Garnering his certification as a teacher in that same year, he subsequently graduated with a Master of Science in trade and industry education at Oklahoma State University in 1975. For his military career, Mr. Joy was decorated with a Bronze Star from the U.S. Army.
