FRASER, MI, July 02, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Emily A. Diaz-Torres has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Since 2010, Ms. Diaz-Torres has provided life skills, translation and legal services to immigrants in the Detroit area as the executive director of the Macomb Immigrant Service Center. Passionate about helping others navigate the opportunities and challenges of starting their lives in the United States, Ms. Diaz-Torres is responsible not only for leadership and strategic planning for the organization, but works directly with clients providing hands-on English language learning, notary and job placement assistance. She also leads citizenship classes; she is extremely proud of the new citizens that she assisted to become responsible, participatory citizens of this great country. She has been recognized for her work by the Archdiocese of Detroit, Michigan State University, the Macomb Bar Association and Detroit News, and is the recipient of a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Keep the Dream Alive Award and the 2010 Michiganian of the Year Award.

Prior to beginning her work on behalf of immigrant communities, Ms. Diaz-Torres enjoyed a 30-year career with Ford Motor Company, the first 20 years in production, sewing seat covers, followed by 5 years of statistical process control and finally, 5 years as a quality engineer manufacturing process auditor. Her transition into community advocacy began as a member of the Hispanic Coalition of Macomb, Michigan, and she would eventually serve as president of the organization before founding the Macomb Immigrant Service Center. Ms. Diaz-Torres is proud to continue her work with the Macomb Immigrant Service Center on a volunteer basis, allowing the nonprofit to better execute its mission.

Ms. Diaz-Torres holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Northwood University, and has received accreditation from the United States Department of Justice, certifying her commitment to ongoing legal education. She emphasizes that she is simply doing what she can to help her community, and considers herself "a normal person, making the world better one step at a time." Ms. Diaz-Torres looks forward to continuing her advocacy and outreach for as long as she is able, and plans to focus on securing the financial future of the Macomb Immigrant Service Center in the coming years.
