Frank Cohn Celebrated for Dedication to the Military

Mr. Cohn retired from the University of Maryland as the director of graduate housing



    FORT BELVOIR, VA, July 02, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Frank Cohn has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. After being drafted into the military, Mr. Cohn successfully served in the U.S. Army between 1943 and 1978. During World War II, he was actively recruited on an intelligence team. In the midst of the Battle of the Bulge, they were tasked with trying to intercept German forces that had penetrated their lines wearing American uniforms. After the war ended, Mr. Cohn was promoted to staff sergeant and served as sergeant of the guard, guarding the outer perimeter for confined war criminals, most of whom were concentration camp commanders tried in the second Nuremberg trial.

Mr. Cohn was additionally responsible for shipping documents back to the United States in support of the prosecution of war criminals. He was discharged from the U.S. Army in 1946 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve. In the late 1970s, he retired from the U.S. Army in the rank of colonel and began his civilian career. With years of expertise within the U.S. Army to his credit, Mr. Cohn excelled as the director for graduate housing for the University of Maryland, a role from which he is now retired.

An expert in his field, Mr. Cohn earned a master's degree in police administration from Michigan State University in 1963. Outside of his primary responsibilities, he has contributed to others as a volunteer with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Due to his considerable life experiences, Mr. Cohn authored a currently unpublished autobiography that details his escape from Germany and his time serving in World War II.

In light of his outstanding accomplishments, Mr. Cohn has been presented with a Legion of Merit, a Bronze Star and a Meritorious Service Medal. He additionally obtained honorable decorations from France, Russia, Vietnam and Korea. Looking toward the future, Mr. Cohn intends to enjoy his well-deserved retirement and dedicate more time with his daughter, Laura.
