Dr. Vanessa M. Gattis Recognized for Excellence in Community Relations

Dr. Gattis aids her community at Prince Williams County Community Foundation Inc.



    WOODBRIDGE, VA, July 02, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Vanessa M. Gattis, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Having accrued half a decade of inimitable expertise in her chosen field, Dr. Gattis has garnered a laudable reputation as a community leader. Serving as the president and chief executive officer of the Prince William County Community Foundation since 2018, she helps to improve the quality of life for residents in her local area by bestowing scholarships for students and grants for educators. She also aids in the empowerment of financial, anti-hunger and educational initiatives. Outside of her community service, Dr. Gattis is also an adjunct professor in the international psychology department at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Washington.

Prior to embarking upon her professional journey, Dr. Gattis began her education at Wilberforce University in 1987, where she completed coursework in psychology and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1990. It was not until 1997 that she would graduate with a Masters degree in psychology from Howard University. In 2011, she earned a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. She finished her education with a Doctor of Philosophy in industrial and organizational psychology from Grand Canyon University in 2017. In addition to her coursework, Dr. Gattis undertook service in the U.S. Army for more than 30 years, during which time she advanced to the rank of colonel before retiring with a Legion of Merit Service Medal.

Throughout the course of her career, Dr. Gattis has authored a monograph titled "Bullied! Coping with Workplace Bullying" in 2017 after completing her degree. A devoted volunteer within her local community, she also holds the title of an ordained elder at her local church, where she hopes to inspire those around her through acts of faith and goodwill. As a commitment to her field, Dr. Gattis has been active with such industry-related organizations as Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a nonprofit organization of predominantly Black, college educated women who strive to provide support through established programs in communities throughout the world.
