With decades of professional experience to his credit, Mr. Laughlin, now retired, served as a senior marketing consultant for Caterpillar – North America Commercial Division from 2001 to 2014. In this capacity, his responsibilities involved working with dealers on their machine ordering issues, developing web based ordering/pricing systems, demand & sales operations planning as well as authorizing product distribution center orders required to satisfy urgent customer demand.
From 1976 to 2001, Mr. Laughlin contributed in the areas of Machine and Parts Pricing, Corporate Treasury – Machine Order Division and Corporate Information Systems.
Among his numerous achievements at Caterpillar Inc., Mr. Laughlin is most proud to have served on a multidisciplinary team that created a global machine price plan process that continues to be used. He initially entered his profession due to the influence of his father, who worked at the aforementioned company as mechanical engineer for over four decades. Notably, Mr. Laughlin's daughter now works at Caterpillar Inc.
In order to prepare for his career, Mr. Laughlin pursued a business education at the University of Illinois, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Finance in 1975. He attributes his success to his keen attention to detail, organizational skills and his strong writing and communication skills. Looking toward the future, Mr. Laughlin plans to spend his retirement focusing on his family.
