As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Dorflinger enjoyed a fulfilling career in education that spanned more than four decades. As an educator, she held positions across the state of Tennessee, but began her vocational journey as an English language teacher at Cleveland High School, where she worked from 1966 until 1979. She also excelled as a teacher evaluator for the Tennessee State Department of Education between 1984 and 1986. Ms. Dorflinger's most notable position came in the form of her service as a department chair for Alcoa High School from 1980 until 1994, when she decided to retire.

Ms. Dorflinger's exemplary performance in the field was born of her academic journey, during which time she received a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Wesleyan College in 1966. To further her education, she would later go on to complete a Master of Secondary English Education in 1976. It was here, in undergraduate school, where Ms. Dorflinger learned the importance of a diverse education, and discovered her calling to guide the youth of the United States. Ms. Dorflinger also earned post masters credit at universities such as Vanderbilt, Sonoma State, Florida, Georgia Tech and Tennessee.

As a commitment to her field, Ms. Dorflinger has been active in Delta Kappa Gamma, a society that promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education, as well as the Tennessee Education Association. To celebrate her accomplishments, she was nominated by the Cleveland City School District as the Young Teacher of the Year in 1974. A devoted volunteer within her local community, Ms. Dorflinger is also an advocate of various animal support groups.
