For the past eight years, Ms. Strum has worked as the Chief Operating Officer of Strum Contracting Company, Inc. (SCC), and was most recently promoted to Chief Executive Officer. In her position, she oversees all daily operations, including contract negotiations, financial management, and external affairs.
Established in 1987, SCC is a welding company focused on enriching the local community with skills development and upskilling opportunities. As a dedicated community member, Ms. Strum has been active on the board of the Jane Addams Resource Corporation. She also recently testified in front of the U.S. House of Representatives for the Committee on Natural Resources in 2021, advocating on behalf of small businesses and the Offshore Wind Jobs Act. Likewise, she has appeared on CBS' "Morning News" regarding her role in creating jobs within the emerging offshore wind industry.
Ms. Strum has been active with the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, the Our Daily Bread Catholic Charities Soup Kitchen, the Business Network for Offshore Wind and the Governors Workforce Development Board. As an accomplished professional, she was named to Baltimore Business Journal's 40 Under 40 in 2019. Ms. Strum maintains professional affiliation with the Maryland Transportation and Builders Materials Association.
