Paul Evans Holbrook Jr. has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Dr. Holbrook celebrates more than 40 years in religious education and ministry



    LEXINGTON, KY, July 23, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Paul Evans Holbrook Jr. has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After earning a Bachelor of Arts in religious studies from Denison University, and both a Master of Divinity and Master of Theology degree from Harvard Divinity School, he obtained an M.A. and Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Kentucky, where Dr. Holbrook taught philosophy, ethics and comparative religion for 25 years. After serving as an apprentice at the King Library Press in the 1970s, Dr. Holbrook also has served as director of this hand-printing operation in the Special Collections library at the University of Kentucky sincel988. Fifteen years ago Dr. Holbrook became one of the Co-owners and operators of Stella's Kentucky Deli, a farm to table cafe in downtown Lexington.

Dr. Holbrook has been active in the Episcopal Diocese of Lexington since his ordination to the diaconate in 1975, and is a long-time member of the Third Order of the Society of St. Francis. He has also served as a board member for the Blue Grass Trust for Historic Preservation, the Kentucky Ballet Theatre, the Warwick Foundation, Lexington Directions, the Kentucky Chapter of the National Society of Arts and Letters. He is also a member of numerous lineage societies and chivalric orders, including the Venerable Order of St. John, and supports PETA, ASPCA, Greenpeace, Arbor Day and other similar environmentally focused charities.

Throughout his career, Dr. Holbrook has attributed his professional success to his dedication to the ideal of excellence in all things. He has recently co-edited The Letters of Thomas Merton and Victor & Carolyn Hammer, contributing both the Introduction and the Afterword, published by the University Press of Kentucky. Currently he is writing a biography of Victor Hammer (1881-1967), the remarkable Austrian-American artist, portrait painter, art theorist, type designer, craftsman and architect.
