Marquis Who's Who Honors Wayne H. Phelps, PhD, with Inclusion in Who's Who in the World

Dr. Phelps celebrates a varied career in English education and performing arts



    CANTON, NY, July 27, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to honor Wayne H. Phelps with inclusion in Who's Who in the World. An accomplished listee, Wayne H. In high school, Dr. Phelps was greatly influenced by his English teachers. He subsequently earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from St. Lawrence University. Dr. Phelps later concluded his education at Princeton University, from which he obtained a Master of Arts in English and a Doctor of Philosophy in English.

During his collegiate studies, Dr. Phelps conducted extensive research in English literature with a special focus on Shakespeare. He began his career at the University of Pennsylvania as an instructor before advancing to become an assistant professor of English. Dr. Phelps further excelled as an assistant professor at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, as a research associate and coordinator at the State Council for Higher Education for Virginia, and director of planning and educational research for the West Virginia Board of Regents prior to his retirement in 1986.

In addition to his primary professional endeavors, Dr. Phelps has also worked as an editorial consultant for the university self-study at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He was also recruited to the university choir and concert band as well as the Laurentian Singers at St. Lawrence University. Dr. Phelps is currently affiliated with the Phi Beta Kappa Society, Pi Mu Epsilon, the Irving Bacheller Society and the Modern Square-Dancing Club.

As a testament to his professional prowess, Dr. Phelps has received many accolades for his exemplary efforts over the years. At Princeton University, he was recognized as a Woodrow Wilson national fellow, a junior fellow, a Charles Scribner junior fellow and a summer fellow. He also accepted the Freshman Chemistry Achievement Award early in his academic career. Civically, Dr. Phelps has been active with Friends of the Owen D. Young and Launders Libraries of St. Lawrence University and the Anglican Catholic Church.
