Warren James Winer Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    SAINT LOUIS, MO, July 28, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Warren James Winer with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Winer celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. With more than 50 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Winer has found much success through his inimitable expertise as an actuary, industry consultant, and senior leader. Beginning his career with the General American Life Insurance Company in 1968, he advanced to become the director of retirement plans in 1973 and the vice president by 1976. Leveraging his experience and vast leadership qualities, Mr. Winer eventually shifted his attention towards consulting in 1980 and accepted a position with Powers, Carpenter and Hall, with which he specialized in pensions and eventually served as the president and chief operating officer in 1985.

Following his departure from Powers, Carpenter and Hall in 1987, Mr. Winer excelled as the president of the Willis Corroon Group between 1988 and 1993 and a regional managing director of William M. Mercer & Associates from 1994 to 1995. After returning to General American Life Insurance as its executive vice president from 1995 until 1999, he continued to earn distinction in various leadership capacities with Towers Watson until his retirement in 2016. Mr. Winer has also worked as a member of the board of directors for the Lucky Lane Nursery School Association from 1978 to 1993 and the co-president of the Conway School Parent Association from 1986 to 1987.

Long dedicated to civic advocacy, Mr. Winer has flourished as chairperson of the Board of Directors in the 1990s, and later as the vice-chairperson of the Board of Directors for Paraquad since 2017. This nonprofit organization notably seeks to assist people living with disabilities in becoming independent and able to participate in all aspects of society. Having been diagnosed with polio and paralyzed from the waist down at the age of three, Mr. Winer is proud his disability has never stopped him from leading a successful and fulfilling career. He hopes this give motivation to young folks with disabilities.

Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Winer studied mathematics and philosophy at Stanford University, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1968. Heeding the advice of his uncle, he subsequently secured his initial position at the General American Life Insurance Company and was recognized as a fellow of the Society of Actuaries in 1972. While he excelled as an actuary, Mr. Winer fondly recalls his decision to assume leadership and consultant roles for the remainder of his career, through which he was able to help his friends and colleagues prosper and grow alongside him.

Outside of his vocational and charitable endeavors, Mr. Winer has enjoyed such avocations as playing bridge, bicycling, swimming, weight lifting and going wine tasting. He has been married to his wife, JoLynn, since 1975. He is also the loving father of two children, Adam and Lauren, through whom he has four wonderful grandchildren. Presently, Mr. Winer is additionally active with the Ways and Means committee for the city of Frontenac, Missouri, and co-chairperson of the Reunion Committee of his Ladue High School class of 1964.
