In the nascent years of computer technology, Ms. Loudenslager became interested in the field.
Ms. Loudenslager began her federal career as a personnel staffing assistant with the Department of Defense at Tinker AFB in March 1980 serving in the off-base employment office, classification office, and the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Office. In order to pursue her interests in computer technology, Ms. Loudenslager enrolled at Rose State College in Engineering Sciences in August 1980. As she earned her college education, she was promoted to a program analyst position in Distribution setting labor standards. Following enrollment at the University of Oklahoma's College of Engineering in 1984, she was transferred to the Engineering Division where she served on special projects.
In January 1989, Ms. Loudenslager accepted a position with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the Radar Engineering Branch as a trainee electronics engineer. She was immediately assigned to the Terminal Doppler Weather Radar (TDWR) and later the Next Generation Weather Radar (NEXRAD). She flourished as an expert in weather radar. Over the years, she gained valuable expertise in weather algorithms, weather radar, weather processors, and weather observation systems. Between 2006 and 2012, Ms. Loudenslager was additionally active as manager for the Weather Processes and Sensors Team with the Federal Aviation Administration.
Drawing upon her considerable expertise, Ms. Loudenslager currently excels as the manager and supervisory engineer for the Weather Systems Engineering Team with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Since accepting her present role in 2012, she has managed a team of more than 40 federal employees and 40 contractors. Moreover, Ms. Loudenslager assured weather systems produce the correct information to Air Traffic Controllers for the safe landing and take-off of air traffic, among other responsibilities.
An expert in her field, Ms. Loudenslager earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma in December 1988. She remains aware of new technology and developments in her industry through her affiliation with the National Weather Service and the Department of Defense. Though her career has been filled with highlights, she is incredibly proud of being instrumental in the deployment of the TDWR and the NEXRAD during her time as a radar engineer. In the near future, Ms. Loudenslager intends to retire from the federal government and pursue another opportunity in the private sector where she can utilize her vast expertise.
