Dr. Saravo is a clinical psychologist and mental health consultant who has successful maintained two private practices, one in Beaufort, South Carolina, since 2007 and one in Atlanta, Georgia, since 2004. Her extensive background began in 1966 when she became an associate professor of psychology at Antioch College in Ohio before working in the field as a school psychologist for Muroc Joint Unified School District at Edwards Air Force Base in California in 1975.

Over the years, Dr. Saravo's interest gradually shifted. Transitioning from experimental psychology to clinical psychology, she spent the next three decades excelling in her field in leading roles at Antelope Valley Hospital in California and Farnborough Hospital in England, now known as the Princess Royal University Hospital, as a clinical psychologist. Subsequently, she worked with Orange County Mental Health Services in California as the chief of outpatient and in-patient services.

In 1981, Dr. Saravo began working in a private practice setting where she devoted the next two decades of her professional life. Additionally, she had the opportunity to work for Medi-Cal Managed Care as a program manager, with which she was responsible for saving $30 million by identifying local residents in state hospitals and bringing them back to local facilities. Dr. Saravo briefly worked for the California National Heritage Insurance Corporation as a medical adviser as well.

Extremely well versed in her field, Dr. Saravo lent her time and expertise to various professional groups and organizations, including as an expert reviewer and oral examination commissioner with the California Board of Psychology and the Medical Board of California. Additionally, she served the High Hopes Neurological Recovery Group as the chairman of the professional advisory board and a member of the board of directors. Other commitments to her credit included an appointment as a professional advisory board member with Caregiver Resource Center OC and membership on the Alzheimer's disease review panel of the California Mental Health Services Division. Apart from her primary work in the field, Dr. Saravo had the opportunity to talk as an invited guest speaker at various events and was a published author of numerous scholarly articles.

Engaged in her community, Dr. Saravo has enjoyed lending a hand as a volunteer member of the disaster mental health team for the American Red Cross since 2001. She also garnered a reputation for her activity on the board of directors of the Citizens Opposed to Domestic Abuse and as the chairman of the Conference on Geriatric Mental Health, among other roles. Dr. Saravo has also been deeply engaged in the arts. A former double major in piano during her college education, she became involved with the Knoxville Symphony League and the Tuesday Morning Music Club, and became a performer at the Van Cliburn Institute at Texas Christian University.

Dr. Saravo studied at Texas Tech University where she achieved a Bachelor of Arts in 1959. She then transferred to the University of Massachusetts where she completed both a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in 1964 and 1965, respectively. Continuing her studies, Dr. Saravo also completed postgraduate coursework at the Regional Health Authority in London, England, and with the University of Southern California. She is a licensed psychologist in California, Georgia and South Carolina.

To remain up to date in her field, Dr. Saravo has been a prominent member of several leading professional organizations. Among her affiliations, she is a member of the California Psychological Association, with which she served as chairman of the Medicare and public sector subcommittee, was active on the board of directors of the division of private practice and served as co-chairman of the reimbursement and managed care committee. She is also a member and former legislative committee member of the Georgia Psychological Association, a graduate member of the National Academy of Neuropsychology, and a member of the American Psychological Association, the South Carolina Psychological Association, the British Psychological Society and the Gerontological Society of America.

Dr. Saravo has received several professional awards and was also recognized as a U.S. Public Health fellow at Fels Research Institute between 1966 and 1967. A celebrated Marquis listee, she has been cited in the 63rd through 70th editions of Who's Who in America, the seventh and eighth editions of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, the 23rd through 26th editions of Who's Who in the West, the 27th through 33rd editions of Who's Who in the World, and the 16th, 19th, 27th and 28th editions of Who's Who of American Women.
