Initially pursuing a career in nursing, Ms. Smith drew inspiration from her enrollment in a psychology course, which prompted her to steer her professional ambitions toward mental health work and counseling. In 2009, she began her journey as a counselor at a helpline center in Florida and an intern at a preschool. Thereafter, Ms. Smith served as an assistant academic advisor at the Education Management Corporation between 2013 and 2014 and as an academic advisor for the Zenith Education Group from 2014 to 2015.
Ms. Smith garnered experience through a mental health internship with AMI Kids in Wimauma, Florida, prior to becoming a licensed psychotherapist. She practiced psychotherapy at Metamorphosis Life Revitalizing Center in Temple Terrace, Florida, from 2015 to 2019. In 2019, she established the Be Centre for Mental Health & Wellness LLC, whose mission is to treat individuals with anxiety, depression, marital problems, childhood trauma and other challenges that prevent them from living a truly fulfilling life. Her primary focus of establishing a practice in Hillsborough county was to give back to the community that was instrumental in her personal and professional growth. Ms. Smith has excelled as a mental health counselor and the chief executive officer of the establishment since its opening.
An expert in all types of trauma, relationship conflict, and mood disorders, Ms. Smith sees between six and eight patients per day at her practice. One of her greatest gifts is the ability to make genuine connections with others while supporting and motivating them towards confidently creating a fulfilling life. Additionally, she is responsible for handling insurance verification, insurance claims, maintains assessments, and detailed records. She is immensely proud of the success of her practice, and of the fact that it was paneled with all major insurance companies in her area. This was particularly important to Ms. Smith, as it allowed her company to help those in need who could not otherwise afford her services.
Prior to embarking upon her professional career, Ms. Smith pursued a formal education at The Florida State University, from which she earned a Bachelor of Science in family and child sciences with a minor in psychology. She subsequently obtained a Master of Arts in clinical mental health counseling from Argosy University in 2016. Eminently qualified in her field, Ms. Smith has been licensed to practice as a mental health counselor by the Florida Department of Health. Moreover, she is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) to assist those suffering from symptoms of trauma.
Devoted to helping others, Ms. Smith has volunteered with the Florida Counseling Association, Posimoto-Changing Faces Inc., American Counseling Association, and the Metropolitan Ministries. Moreover, she is an active member of the honorable society of Phi Beta Delta for International Scholars. For her inimitable contributions as the former president of the Florida Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development, she received the Division of the Year award in 2016. Currently, she serves as the Treasurer for the Florida Counseling Association amongst all of her past leadership positions. When she's not building her practice and volunteering in her community, she is a devoted mother to a beautiful three year old daughter and treasures bonding with her family/friends.
