After receiving a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Texas A&M University, Mrs. Lindsey embarked on her career journey. Her mother, Vickie Haynes, established Vickie's Gifts in 1998 as a charming gift shop in their small town. In 2014, Mrs. Lindsey stepped into her mother's role as owner.
In this position, Mrs. Lindsey takes on many roles and works six days a week. She handles many aspects of the business, including cleaning, accounting, creating store displays, purchasing inventory for the shop, managing the website, and social media marketing. In addition to her work at the shop, Mrs. Lindsey also authored an article about how to create store displays for Gifts & Dec Magazine. In 2020, she also co-authored "In Her Shoes."
As an accomplished professional, Mrs. Lindsey has received a wealth of recognition for her work over the years. To wit, she was previously mentioned in Texas Monthly magazine and the Syndicate magazine. Her business was also recognized as a multiple time Best Gift Shop by Sweetwater Reporter, as well as among the Top 3 Finalists for Best in Social Media Outreach at the Retail Excellence Awards. Most recently, in 2021, the store was a Top 3 Finalist for Best in Store Events at the Retail Excellence Awards.
An active member of her local community, Mrs. Lindsey runs an annual handbag drive and an annual Christmas open house event. She is also active with the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Throughout the course of her career, she has attributed her success to her customer service. She prides herself on treating customers like family, whether they patronize her business or not. In the coming years, Ms. Lindsey plans to print a second edition of her cookbook, and increase the store's online presence in order to increase brand awareness beyond their small town.
