Dr. Bender excels as the chief of Nuclear Medicine at Birmingham, Alabama VA Healthcare System

    ALABASTER, AL, August 12, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Luvenia W. Bender, MD, has been included in the Marquis Who's Who. With over 20 years of expertise in nuclear medicine, Dr. Bender is recognized for her service to her community through her knowledge and dedication to science. Serving as the Chief of Nuclear Medicine at the Birmingham, Alabama VA Healthcare System, she trains residents in nuclear medicine and fellows in radiology and cardiology through imaging interpretation using radiopharmaceuticals. In addition to her main responsibilities in the field, Dr. Bender has found success as a faculty member of the University of Alabama, where she assists in the UAB Residency Program for Nuclear Medicine.

Before venturing onto her vocational path, Dr. Bender pursued an education at Austin Peay State University, from which she earned dual degrees, Bachelor of Science in chemistry and Bachelor of Science in biology. She later obtained an additional Bachelor of Science in radiological science from Vanderbilt University Medical Center; this is where she first obtained her passion for nuclear medicine. To complete her academic studies, Dr. Bender graduated from East Tennessee State University with a Doctor of Medicine.

To remain aware of developments affecting her field, Dr. Bender has maintained her professional affiliation with a number of pertinent organizations, such as the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, Alabama Society of Nuclear Medicine and American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. Her achievements are largely driven by her passion for her work, her desire to aid others, and her interest in passing on her knowledge to the next generation of doctors. In the future, Dr. Bender hopes to retire from her full-time position and instead focus on consulting work as well as traveling.
