Mr. Esmond started his swimming pool career at the age of 22 in 1968 when he was discharged out of the United States Army after serving a year in Vietnam. He excepted a position with Sylvan Pools and for the 10 years, he worked for them and managed the construction of swimming pools in Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Japan, England and most of the states in the United States. Mr. Esmond found further success when he moved to Pensacola, Florida and was offered the position of Vice President of Pensacola Pools where he spent 25 years.
With over 50 years of experience in the swimming pool industry in 2010, Mr. Esmond at the age of 63 founded Gulf Breeze Pools and Spas and has built it into one of the most successful and recognized customize swimming pool companies in Gulf Breeze, Florida. There were times in Mr. Esmonds career that things were not always so successful and one particular winter Mr. Esmond, his wife and 3 young daughters found he could not pay his gas utility bill to heat his house and experienced the whole winter without heat with a temperature as low as 6 degree. He never forgot that winter and the sacrifices he had to make to get through it and now as the owner of a thriving and successful business for the last two years he has been helping those in his Gulf Breeze community pay their Gulf Breeze utility bills that were due to be disconnected. Last December he paid the past due Gulf Breeze utility bills for 114 families in Gulf Breeze Florida and the Christmas of 2019 he paid 46 past due utility bills for families that were due to be disconnected. This year, Planters Peanuts started a program called "A NUT ABOVE" to honor people who have helped others less fortunate and chose to award Mr. Esmond with a $104,000 check which he used to pay Gulf Breeze utility bills of those that were due to be disconnected for a period of almost 5 months and paid over 600 utility bills.
Mr. Esmond is very happy that so many people in the United States and around the world have contacted him about helping people in their communities also the way he did. Mr. Esmond states that you don't have to be a millionaire to help other people. Many people cannot afford a $100 utility bill and he is proud to say in his community of Gulf Breeze, Florida that other people have taken up just paying small amounts for other people that can't afford to pay their utility bills.
