As the oldest of five children growing up in Northeast OH., Mr. Marthey graduated from Waynedale High School during the early 1970s. He subsequently pursued a Bachelor of Arts in business administration and physical education from Transylvania University, which he obtained in 1975. Over the years Mr. Marthey gained considerable experience as a salesman and Regional Sales Manager for Certainteed Daymond Company, a corrugated plastic drainage tubing manufacturer.
Drawing on his considerable experience, Mr. Marthey currently excels as the owner and operator of Big Dave's Custom Surveying & Design, a P&M Bear Global LLC Company. Through his surveying & design business, he owns and operates two polaris ranger diesel powered all terrain vehicles that utilize wiring setups for trimble global positioning system automatic surveying systems. With the data from the aforementioned systems, Mr. Marthey designs the fields so that land levelers and farmers with their own land leveling equipment can cut the ground to a precise slope so that it may irrigate and drain more efficiently.
Mr. Marthey has been active as a life member of The Twin Cessna Flyer, Kappa Alpha Order and his local chapter of the Knights of Columbus. He has also devoted his time and resources to the Jonesboro-Arkansas Municipal Airport Commission, where he has served as the chairman on three occasions, as a Paul Harris Fellow member of the Jonesboro University Rotary Club and the Blessed Sacrament Fall Festival. In addition to proudly singing at more than 200 weddings, Mr. Marthey was notably recognized as a Top Salesman by the Certainteed Daymond Company, received a Distinguished Service Award from Kappa Alpha Order and Transylvania University, and is widely known as the most competent independent agricultural land surveying service throughout the Mississippi Delta.
Mr. Marthey fondly recalls being recruited to survey and design a 600-acre rice research facility for the University of Arkansas among his career highlights. Looking toward the future, he hopes to publish a book that he intends to write titled "An Extraordinary Ordinary Man." Ultimately, Mr. Marthey aims to experience the continued growth and success of his career with Big Dave's Custom Surveying & Design.
