Upon earning a Bachelor of Science in education, with an emphasis in human development and social policy, through Northwestern University and a Master of Science in elementary education from Roosevelt University, Dr. Ashley began in the field as a mathematics and science teacher with the Chicago Public Schools and continued teaching with the Milwaukee Public Schools. Following this period, she completed a principal license program through Marquette University then became the founding principal and director of curriculum and instruction for Maasai Institute Charter High School.
In addition to her roles in a school setting, Dr. Ashley served as the proprietor of the Arbor Collaboration for Education Inc. and as a professional development-coaching supervisor for Catapult Learning, where she remains active today. In her current role as the director of professional development, she uses her experiences to manage the coaching and professional development services for her region of Catapult. Driven to further her expertise, Alia received a Doctor of Education in organizational change and leadership from the University of Southern California.
To remain aware of ongoing changes in the field of education, Dr. Ashley aligns herself with the National Science Teachers Association and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. Due to her professional excellence, she has received multiple Teacher of the Year awards. Though her career has been filled with highlights, she is most proud of her influence on the lives of thousands of children and their influence on her, professionally and personally. Looking toward the future, Dr. Ashley aims to refine her research in educational coaching.
