Dr. Blanding has accrued several years of experience as a pediatric doctor. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering, with an emphasis in biomedical engineering, from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. After an unsuccessful first application to medical school, Dr. Blanding completed the reapplication program at the University of California Los Angeles and later earned a Doctor of Medicine from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
Upon completing a resident at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Dr. Blanding was recruited as a pediatrician for All Kid Pediatrics of Opelousas in 2019. Since 2020, she has served as the chairperson of pediatrics for the Opelousas General Health System, which, as the youngest medical staff member at the hospital, stands as the highlight of her career. As a pediatrician, Dr. Blanding's responsibilities include performing both scheduled and emergency cesarean sections and caring for newborns and pediatric patients.
Prior to obtaining her medical degree, Dr. Blanding previously provided her expertise as a material and process engineer for Boeing. Additionally, she worked as a scribe for ScribeAmerica and as a unit secretary for Marina del Rey Hospital. Notably, she is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and participates in the National Society of Black Engineers and Tau Beta Pi National Honor Society for Engineering. She attributes her success to the unwavering support of her family. Looking toward the future, Dr. Blanding intends to continue her work and improve the lives of underserved members of her community.
