In 1987, she was recruited as an assistant chief medical technologist at the University of Texas Cancer Hospital, a sales manager at Kentucky Center of Life and a resident manager at the American Capital Financial Service. From 1990 to 1994, Ms. Straker thrived as an anatomy and physiology teacher and medical transcriber at Houston Community College.
Ms. Straker is an active member of the American Society for Clinical Pathologists, the National Association for Securities Dealers and the National Association for Female Executives. Having obtained insurance and security licenses, she is additionally certified as an insurance agent and medical technologist.
