Having grown up in the pulp and paper industry with her family, who owned a logging business, Mrs. McAlpine felt similarly compelled to enter the field. After earning a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the University of Maine in 2003, she joined Sappi Fine Paper as a Senior Research Technologist, where she excelled for six years. Subsequently, Mrs. McAlpine began energy consulting and gained valuable expertise as a Project Engineer, Project Manager and Senior Project Manager for GDS Associates, Inc, where she remains active today as Principal. Additionally, she excels as a Program Delivery Manager for the Efficiency Maine Trust.
As a Principal of GDS Associates, Inc, Mrs. McAlpine responds to proposals to work with different clients, assists commercial customers with upgrading equipment to become more energy efficient, and helps customers obtain financial incentives to help pay for projects. She assists with program planning, budget analysis, developing new measures by screening through benefit/cost analysis and developing data for Technical Reference Manuals. Throughout the course of her career, she has provided energy efficiency consulting services for such clients as MidAmerican Energy Company, Hoosier Energy Rural Electric Cooperative, Pennsylvania PUC and the State of Missouri's Department of Natural Resources in the Division of Energy.
In addition to her undergraduate degree, Mrs. McAlpine is a Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP) and Certified Energy Manager (CEM) through the Association of Energy Engineers. She has completed Building Operator Certification Level 1 and holds an EIT certification. Driven to remain aware of changes in the field, she aligns herself with the Association of Energy Engineers, the Association of Energy Service Professionals, and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers. Looking toward the future, Mrs. McAlpine intends to grow professionally with the Maine office of GDS Associates, Inc, while fostering the success of her employees.
