Mr. Liu was born in Shanghai, China. As a first-generation immigrant from a young age, Mr. Liu has been fascinated by the stock market as a tool to build wealth and participate in the growth of successful companies around the world. After graduating as Valedictorian of Riverside High School in Durham, North Carolina and earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Systems Engineering from Stanford University and connecting with Mr. John W. Parker, who became his mentor, Mr. Liu began his career as the Manager of Operations and Technology at K.L. Hess Family Foundation and accepted a position with Mr. Parker's firm, Parker Investment Management, as an equity research analyst and equity trader. Mr. Liu advanced through the ranks to become Vice President and Portfolio Manager, and has now served as Executive Vice President of the entire firm for the past four years.
As a qualified professional, Mr. Liu is a Certified Financial Planner™ through the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc., a Chartered Financial Analyst through the CFA Institute, and has earned the Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM®) from the CFA Institute. He is also a licensed financial advisor (Series 65) through the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). In his current position, Mr. Liu provides a unique background to the business, having studied mathematics, computer science, and electrical engineering at Stanford University as opposed to the standard route of economics or finance that most financial professionals take.
Throughout his time with Parker Investment Management, Mr. Liu has led and supervised four major functional areas for the firm, including portfolio management, trading, compliance and client facing responsibilities. Over the years, he has been incredibly proud of the work that he has done for the benefit of multiple generations of clients. He has further managed transfers of wealth within families and foundations, helping clients establish legacy within their families and communities. He has also been grateful to be able to offer assistance to widows who are in need of financial advice as well as counsel clients in other areas after experiencing life-changing events. Ultimately, Mr. Liu has enjoyed witnessing and participating in the consistent growth of the firm, having the ability to implement new technologies and new methods of operations through periods of significant change.
In addition to his work in finance, Mr. Liu previously offered his expertise in electrical engineering and biology as co-author of "Microfluidic Sonicator for Real-Time Disruption of Eukaryotic Cells and Bacterial Spores for DNA Analysis," published in Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology. Most recently, he was selected as a 2021 winner of the Five Star Wealth Manager Award for the San Francisco Bay Area Professionals, representing the top 2% of all candidates considered. Mr. Liu was also presented with the same award in 2020. Looking toward the future, Mr. Liu intends to lead more growth initiatives within the firm, and eventually elevate the firm to the next level of success and influence.
