OMAHA, NE, September 10, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Vithyalakshmi Selvaraj has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected based on current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all considered during the selection process.
Dr. Selvaraj excels not only as a restauranteur but a board-certified psychiatrist and the owner and chief medical officer of Omaha Insomnia and Psychiatric Services. Since establishing the company in 2013, she has overseen the company's growth. In this capacity, Dr. Selvaraj invests in education and cutting-edge treatment modalities for such mental health disorders as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Spravato treatments.
During an earlier stage of her career, Dr. Selvaraj gained valuable expertise as a psychiatrist with the Omaha Veterans Administration Hospital, Creighton University Medical Center, CHI Creighton Clinic and the partial hospitalization program at Immanuel Hospital. In hopes of destigmatizing mental illness, she pioneered the primary care mental health integration program at Omaha Veterans Hospital and Creighton University Medical Center. Dr. Selvaraj served as an associate professor of psychiatry and associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Creighton University School of Medicine. Before embarking upon her professional journey, she completed postgraduate coursework in England, received psychiatric training in Northwest Wales and earned a doctoral degree from Creighton University in 2010. Driven to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Selvaraj is highly active with the Neuroscience Education Institute and the American Psychiatric Association.
In conjunction with her work, Dr. Selvaraj contributes to others as a volunteer counselor during natural disasters, donating more than 2,000 meals to local shelters and assisted living facilities. Due to her vast knowledge, she published with Lippincott Williams & Wilkins' first edition of "Psychopharmacology: 501 Questions to Help You Pass the Boards," released in 2012. For her achievements, she was named as Omaha's Top Psychiatrist. She is also a recipient of the Bloc's 50 Over 50 NE Up-and-Coming Trailblazer award. Though her career has been filled with highlights, she is most proud that, as her practice has grown, she has consistently striven to make a positive change in the lives of so many patients. In the near future, Dr. Selvaraj aims to expand Omaha Insomnia and Psychiatric Services to different markets and continue to improve the mental health of as many individuals as possible.
