Upon earning a Bachelor of Science in education and special education from Augustana College in 1983, Ms. Foy worked as a special education teacher, subsequently starting a family and transitioning into the business world. Backed by her considerable expertise, she excels today as owner of The Dance Line Inc., which provides a wide range of dance, gymnastics, cheer and skate gear and accessories, pointe shoes, and more. Though Ms. Foy was never a dancer herself, her daughters are both dancers. Her oldest daughter worked for the previous owner of the store, so when that owner decided to sell, her daughter convinced her to buy it.
In the nearly two decades since buying The Dance Line, Ms. Foy has become a trained pointe shoe fitter and conducts business on an international scale with Canada, Germany, China and England. Driven to remain aware of ongoing changes in the field, she aligns herself with the local chamber of commerce and the Better Business Bureau. Though her career has been filled with highlights, she is proudest of paying her staff's health insurance while the business was shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the coming years, Ms. Foy intends to retire and sell her business to her daughter, who is currently the store's manager.
