CHARLOTTE, NC, September 10, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Keia V.R. Hewitt, MD, MBA, MPH, has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. After achieving a Bachelor of Science in biology from Xavier University of Louisiana, Dr. Hewitt earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Dr. Hewitt also obtained a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Public Health from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois.
In 2006, she was recruited as a staff physician for the Emergency Services department within Atrium Health Care System, formerly known as Carolinas Health Care System. In 2014, Dr. Hewitt was selected to serve as Quality Director at Atrium Health Huntersville. In 2018 she was appointed Director of Emergency Services and Chief of Emergency Medicine at Atrium Health Stanly where she found tremendous success over the following three years improving Emergency Department operations, patient experience and Emergency Department provider satisfaction. Dr. Hewitt currently serves as the MUSC Health Lancaster Division Emergency Medicine Director.
Due to her commitment to serving others, Dr. Hewitt finds her profession extremely rewarding because of her ability to improve public health outcomes. She has a special interest in mitigating the impact of health inequities and social determinants of health for patients. In 2020, the Diversity, Inclusion and Health Equity (DIHE) Section of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) honored Dr. Hewitt with the ACEP DIHE Section Distance and Impact Award for her service with underrepresented populations.
