Dr. James Bredfeldt Honored for Achievements in Gastroenterology

Dr. Bredfeldt is recognized for decades of experience in the fields of gastroenterology, hepatology and clinical research ethics



    BELLEVUE, WA, September 15, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. James Bredfeldt has been included in Marquis Who's Who for excelling in the fields of gastroenterology, hepatology and clinical research ethics. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Attributing his success to his parents, who emphasized the importance of education, Dr. Bredfeldt attended the University of Kansas to pursue his interest in chemistry, earning a bachelor's degree in 1970. Over the course of his undergraduate education, he found himself deciding between a graduate degree in chemistry or pre-medical education.
Choosing to focus his attention on a career in medicine, Dr. Bredfeldt continued his studies at the University of Kansas Medical Center, from which he received a Doctor of Medicine in 1974. Throughout this time as well as during his residency, he acknowledges the then-chief physician of internal medicine, Dr. Norton Greenberger, for influencing his choice to specialize in gastroenterology. Dr. Bredfeldt pursued fellowship training in gastroenterology at the University of Missouri-Columbia and hepatology at Yale University.

Dr. Bredfeldt has obtained multiple honors and commendations throughout his professional ventures. Upon the completion of his medical degree, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Bredfeldt has also been accredited as a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Additionally, he has compiled research papers examining experimental portal hypertension, a blood condition that occurs in the abdomen of those who have been diagnosed with liver cirrhosis. One key research paper concerning this affliction, which has garnered over 500 citations, was published in the American Journal of Physiology. He has been elected a Fellow in the American College of Physicians (FACP), American College of Gastroenterology (FACG) and American Gastroenterological Association (AGAF).

Dr. Bredfeldt hopes to utilize his experience and career to mentor and share knowledge with other current and up-and-coming medical professionals in his fields of expertise. He is also a firm believer in continuous education. Likewise, Dr. Bredfeldt aims to further benefit from his peers in gastroenterology, hepatology and clinical research ethics.
