DOVER, DE, September 16, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cathleen "Cat" McLean has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
While working as the manager of a convenience store; Mrs. McLean decided that she liked the administrative work she was doing, however she no longer wanted to do the physical labor involved in her position. She obtained an Associate of Arts degree in Accounting and Finance from Delaware Technical Community College in 1997. Shortly thereafter, in 1998, she began working in the Finance office of Kent County Levy Court as an Accountant. She processed accounts receivable and billings for services provided by Kent County Levy Court. In 2000, she was promoted to the role of Payroll Administrator; she held this position in the Personnel Office for 20 years. She was responsible for ensuring that employee's information, such as deductions and that direct deposit information was accurate, resulting in correct pay for each employee. Although Payroll was her main responsibility, she had many others such as training new hires, and ensuring that communication with Personnel was always on point. She also trained others to work in her stead whenever she was away. She furthered her expertise by earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from Wilmington University in 2002.
To remain abreast of changes in the field, Mrs. McLean aligns herself with the American Payroll Association. Outside of her work, she also volunteered with the Employee Council. In light of her professional excellence, she has been honored on several occasions, earning Perfect Attendance Awards and an Employee of the Month Award. Although her career has been filled with highlights, she is most proud of learning to work two different payroll systems.
In 2020, Mrs. McLean retired and is currently focusing on her family, including her husband Neill, children Tory, and Jason, daughter-in-law Shantee and only grandchild Mickayla. She fondly recalls her time at Kent County Levy Court, saying that many of her co-workers were "like family."
