A respected radio personality and former television news anchor, Ms. Thornton boasts nearly 30 years of professional experience in the fields of journalism and the arts. Presently, she is most renowned by listeners in Portland for her distinctive voice as a co-host on "Chris and Crystal in the Morning," which fills the airwaves with its inspirational storytelling weekday mornings from 6 to 10 a.m. on KFIS-FM's 104.1 The Fish. Ms. Thornton can also be heard Sunday afternoons from 12 to 6pm, and hosts "Life Inspired," a podcast that offers an enduring message of hope through the stories of those that help others.

Prior to her primary work in Portland, Ms. Thornton distinguished herself as a news anchor and reporter for WGHP TV in High Point, North Carolina from 2002 until 2005, whereupon she went on hiatus to raise her son. She also found success in similar roles as an anchor, talk show host and reporter for WB33 News at 9 in Dallas, Texas between 1999 and 2002. During that time, Ms. Thornton was the host of "DFW Close-Up," an Emmy-nominated weekly community affairs program.

Ms. Thornton's wide-ranging career brought her to Portland for the first time as an anchor and reporter for KOIN-TV from 1996 to 1999, for which she co-hosted morning and afternoon programming. Between 1994 and 1996, she was recruited as the host and producer of the "Living the Dream Awards," an annual Black History Month special, for KIII-TV in Corpus Christi, Texas. Ms. Thornton began her career in media at WITN-TV in Washington, North Carolina as an anchor and the co-host of the annual televised Christmas parade.

Outside of her primary career endeavors, Ms. Thornton regularly writes and produces commercial voice-overs for various clients. She is also a frequent stage participant in local events throughout the Portland area. Committed to philanthropy, Ms. Thornton is a member of the Cascade Division of the Salvation Army, for which she operates as a member of the executive board and the nominating committee.

Initially driven to become a Broadway entertainer, Ms. Thornton has studied dance with companies at both the University of Alaska and Eastern Michigan University and trained in ballet dancing with Ballet Midwest in Topeka, Kansas. While studying at Eastern Michigan University, she changed her major to focus on telecommunications and film, while minoring in musical theater, having graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1989. She is incredibly proud to have received an Alumni Achievement Award from her alma mater in 2006. Likewise, she is grateful for the influence of her wonderful husband, Ronald, a retired Lt. Col. in the marines, and their son, Ronald III. Looking toward the future, she hopes to earn a master's degree and continue working in mass media.
