SAN DIEGO, CA, September 20, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Allan J. Glick has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Realizing his interest in boats and sailing from a young age, Mr. Glick enrolled at the State University of New York Maritime College from 1969 to 1970, with which he was one of four freshmen on the varsity sailing team. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in education and liberal arts, with emphasis on history and social studies, from Boston University in 1975, spending three years on the college sailing team. In 1982, he graduated in the top of his class from the Chapman School of Seamanship's preparation program for the United States Coast Guard (USCG) captain's license that included vocational training in seamanship, navigation, ship's systems, maintenance and safety. Mr. Glick is additionally credentialed as a sailing instructor by the American Sailing Association.

Mr. Glick subsequently served as a restaurant manager and produce manager with the Basil Pot Restaurant from 1975 to 1981 and Rosewood Market in Columbia, South Carolina from 1989 to 1991. He was later active as the general manager in the Ben and Jerry's ice cream franchise in Rancho Bernardo, California from 1995 to 1999. He shifted his attention to sailing in 1982 as a captain and instructor teaching offshore and coastal cruising with the International School of Sailing. From 1984 to 1989, Mr. Glick worked as a captain of the full service charter yacht "Yesterday's Dream" where he did weeklong sailing excisions and guided snorkeling tours in the Virgin Islands. From 1991 to 1995, he owned and captained the sailing vessel "Amelia Rose" doing guided snorkeling tours in the Virgin Islands.

Since 1999, Mr. Glick found much success as a captain and operations manager with San Diego Parasail Adventures, San Diego Pirate Ship Adventures and San Diego Harbor Excursions as well as a sailing instructor. As the captain and general manager of the 83 foot Pirate themed tour boat with Global Aquatics in San Diego from 2011 to 2014, he was responsible for general maintenance, supervising the crew, safety training, safe operation of the ship's excursions and implementing their interactive Pirate Show. From 2013 to 2016, he was recruited as crewmember with Next Level Sailing aboard the Schooner America, a replica of the original Schooner America that won a race against England's finest yachts in 1851. Mr. Glick has found further success as the captain and an instructor with Harbor Sailboats since 2000, the lead captain with San Diego Sailing Tours since 2012 and the Maritime Museum of San Diego since 2015 where he captains the official Tall Ship of California (the 140 foot Topsail Schooner "Californian") and the authentic replica of the Spanish Galleon "San Salvador".

Since 2015, Mr. Glick has portrayed a Pirate Captain with San Diego Pirate Adventures, an historically authentic theatrical Pirate group that does a comedic interactive Pirate Show, often while underway sailing on the historic tall ships of the San Diego Maritime Museum.

Mr. Glick attributes his success to developing his skill level, his problem-solving capabilities and listening to feedback from clients and passengers. In the coming years, he intends to continue his trade as a ship captain and manager with the excursion companies with whom he is currently working. When the time comes that he can no longer sail, Mr. Glick would like to become a docent at the Maritime Museum of San Diego.
