He remained with McDonald's for five years before transitioning into a leadership role as the head litigation attorney for Guerard, Kalina, Musial, Ulrich, & Varchetto. At the aforementioned commercial law firm, Mr. Ulrich's responsibilities included dispute resolution and defense in trademark and commercial disputes, as well as the direction of the firm's due diligence teams handling mergers and acquisitions.
From 1989 to 1999, Mr. Ulrich was a capital partner of Hinshaw & Culbertson, managing real estate and commercial transactions for a regional branch of the firm. From 1999 through 2017, he excelled as a partner of Mulherin, Rehfeldt, & Varchetto PC, for which he supervised operations and the management of the firm's general practice group, including marketing, recruitment and training, and financial oversight. Notably, he developed a reputation across his career for exceptional attention to detail and risk mitigation. Mr. Ulrich performed litigation, arbitration and mediation through the appellate levels. Recognized with a Distinguished Rating in Legal Ability and Ethical Standards from Martindale-Hubbell, Mr. Ulrich remains active as a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the DuPage County Bar Association.
