Robert S. McKelvey, MD, has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Dr. McKelvey is a dedicated child psychiatrist with over 40 years of experience to his credit



    MILWAUKIE, OR, September 29, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Robert S. McKelvey, MD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After earning a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Harvard College, Dr. McKelvey went on to complete a Doctor of Medicine from Dartmouth Medical School in 1974. He subsequently completed a residency in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School in 1977 before undertaking a second residency in child psychiatry there in 1979. Well qualified in his field, Dr. McKelvey is board certified in psychiatry by the American Board Psychiatry and Neurology and board certified in child psychiatry by the American Board Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. McKelvey began his career as a physician at McLean Hospital in Boston before working as the director of child and adolescent psychiatry division at Baylor College of Medicine. He also served as the Foundation Professor of child psychiatry at University of Western Australia before becoming director of the child and adolescent psychiatry division at Oregon Health and Science University. He subsequently established his private psychiatry practice. Dr. McKelvey also served as a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, during which time he was bestowed with the Bronze Star Medal with combat "V" device.

To remain aware of developments in the field, Dr. McKelvey maintains his affiliation with several pertinent organizations. Among them, he is a distinguished lifetime fellow of both the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and American Psychiatric Association. Likewise, Dr. McKelvey is a member of the American College of Psychiatrists and a fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.

Dr. McKelvey first became involved in his profession during his service in Vietnam, where he observed the need for good physicians. He considers his most notable achievement during his lengthy career to be the research he has conducted on behalf of Vietnamese Amerasian after the conclusion of the Vietnam War. In the coming years, Mr. McKelvey hopes to continue his work as a physician and psychiatrist.
