David Williams has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Dr. Williams is a dedicated pediatrician with over 40 years of experience to his credit



    BOSTON, MA, October 04, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David Williams has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After earning a bachelor's degree from Indiana State University in 1975, Dr. Williams obtained a Doctor of Medicine from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1979. He subsequently began his career as an intern at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in 1980 before completing his residency at the aforementioned hospital in 1982. Since 1991 when he was appointed the inaugural Director of the Wells Center for Pediatric Research at Indiana University School of Medicine, Dr. Williams has served in key leadership roles at three academic institutions, most recently as the chief scientific officer and executive vice president for research at Boston Children's Hospital from 2016 to 2021. He has been the Leland Fikes Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School since 2007.

Since 2007, he has served with distinction as the chief for the division of hematology and oncology at Boston Children's Hospital. Dr. Williams has also served as the president for the International Society of Experimental Hematology and the American Society of Hematology. He has multiple patents and is the co-founder of two biotechnology companies.

Dr. Williams has notably contributed to multiple high impact research publications, including a recent paper on sickle cell treatment for the New England Journal of Medicine in 2021, in which he was previously published in 2018. He has received many honors throughout his stellar career, including the Dameshek Award from the American Society of Hematology for outstanding research, the Donald Metcalf Award from the International Society of Experimental Hematology, the Frank Oski Award for Research from the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, the E. Mead Johnson Award from the Society for Pediatric Research and the Outstanding Achievement Award from the American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and is consistently listed as a Top Doctor in multiple listings with which he is highlighted as a top pediatrician and pediatric hematologist. Beyond his primary responsibilities, Dr. Williams has served in various volunteer organizations and recently served on a working group on farm animals of the Dover (MA) Board of Health.
