Ms. Ruth obtained a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies in psychology and the visual and performing arts from the University of Maine, Farmington, and continued her education with a Master of Education in Psychology, focusing on criminal justice, from Cambridge College in 2000. Her initial inclination was to become a creative arts therapist and guidance counselor with elementary school children, focusing on tutoring, mental health and the empowerment of youth. After the shootings at Columbine High School in Colorado, Ms. Ruth instead decided to focus on criminal justice and founded ABS Community Research in 2001, a nonprofit organization supporting research, development, and administration for advancements and partnerships in health and human services, education, labor and criminal justice.
ABS Community Research has supported a large range of beneficiaries, including United States veterans, African American communities, groups in multiple Latin American, Caribbean, African, Middle Eastern and Asian nations, as well as United Nations-affiliated projects such as UNICEF. In 2013, United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) affiliate, the Universal Peace Federation, appointed Ms. Ruth as an Ambassador for Peace, a certificate of diplomatic status awarded to selected government officials, diplomats, business leaders, philanthropists, advocates and activists, which she considers to be a career highlight. Universal Peace Federation hosts the network of more than 20,000 Ambassadors for Peace.
Ms. Ruth also founded Global H Codes, a classification system for advancing administrative, accounting and information technology systems to support the $6 trillion U.S. nonprofit sector and $15 trillion global nonprofit sector, compatible to intersections of government and corporate sectors. In addition, her consulting firm, Independent Review, Inc., initiated in 2010, supports prominent private clients in Washington, D.C., and abroad in domestic and international finance, strategic market research and targeted marketing, federal certifications, risk mitigation and compliance, government and public relations. Through this organization, Ms. Ruth supports clients with infrastructural development financing and with defense of legal and economic rights of individuals abroad, including in Mexico and Brazil.
Ms. Ruth attributes her success in-part to her mentor, the late Dr. Morris Stein, then Professor Emeritus with New York University with whom she completed a four-year apprenticeship. In the coming years, she hopes to be able to support the advancement of finance and operational practices to empower and support the nonprofit sector nationally and internationally.
